The Richmond Chapter, Old Dominion Bar Association (ODBA), was founded by African American attorneys with the intent to advance the professional goals of its members, promote equal rights for all and build a more just and inclusive society. The ODBA welcomes all judges, attorneys and law school students, regardless of race, religion or gender.

The Richmond Chapter, ODBA
sponsors several great programs and events:

Oliver W. Hill-Samuel W. Tucker Scholarship Dinner
The ODBA's flagship program is the Oliver W. Hill-Samuel W. Tucker Scholarship dinner. For the last five years, the ODBA has provided scholarships to first year law school students enrolled in law school across the Commonwealth and Howard University. In honor of the scholarship recipients and Messrs. Hill and Tucker, the ODBA and the Greater Richmond Bar Foundation sponsors a dinner every year in Richmond, Virginia. The scholarship dinner, which is attended by members of the business community, law school faculty, lawyers, judges, politicians and community leaders, also features a prominent speaker from the legal community, music and entertainment.

This event is scheduled for Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at the Omni Richmond Hotel, 100 South 12th Street, Richmond, Virginia 23219 at 7:00 p.m. Our theme for this year’s dinner is “The Next Hundred Years.” Our guest speaker is The Honorable Viola O. Baskerville, Secretary of Administration for the Commonwealth of Virginia.

ODBA-University of Richmond Black Law School Students Association Mentorship Program
Members of the ODBA volunteer to mentor first year law school students at the University of Richmond, T.C.Williams School of Law. Mentors are encouraged to not only provide professional guidance and advice but to get to know their mentees on a personal level and forage relationships that will grow with the development of both the mentor's and mentee's career. If you are interested in this program, please contact A/Lt. Charlene L. Hinton, at 804 646-3839 or hintoncl@ci.richmond.va.us.
